What is Oral Surgery?
Oral surgery is the diagnosis and treatment of injuries, diseases and defects related to the head, neck, face, jaws and oral cavity.
While our dentists always use the least invasive treatment possible for a given dental problem, in some cases, less invasive treatment options are simply not sufficient and oral surgery is required.
At our Canmore dental office, our dentists offer a range of oral surgery procedures to restore our patients' oral health.
Dental Implants
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that functions like a natural tooth root and is capped with a tooth replacement. Our dentists use dental implants as a natural-looking way to replace missing teeth. An implant, together with a tooth replacement such as a crown or bridge, can help to restore the function and appearance of your smile.
Tooth Extractions
At Canmore Dental Centre we believe that it's always preferable to save a natural tooth however, there are some cases where it's simply not possible to restore the tooth. If you have a tooth that is badly damaged as a result of decay, gum disease or injury, your dentist may recommend that it may need to be removed.
Frenectomy
A frenectomy procedure is done to eliminate a problematic frenum (a small piece of tissue that connects your cheeks, tongue or lips to your gum area). Our dentists perform frenectomies when the frenum is restricting function and causing conditions commonly referred to as tongue-tied, lip-tied or cheek-tied.
