At Canmore Dental Centre, our dentists offer custom-fitted dental appliances to help improve and protect your oral health and overall wellbeing.
What is a Dental Appliance?
Protecting your oral health is about more than just brushing and flossing. For patients who play sports, who clench or grind their teeth or who suffer from sleep apnea or snoring, dental appliances can help preserve and protect oral structures as well as whole-body health.
Dental appliances offered at Canmore Dental Centre – such as mouth guards and sleep apnea devices – can help to improve and protect the health of your mouth.
Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances
Sleep disorders can disrupt your sleep and negatively impact your mental health and overall wellbeing.
When a person snores, their throat tissues relax and restrict the airway. This causes vibrations as oxygen is forced past, producing the sound we know as snoring.
For patients with sleep apnea, their throat tissues over-relax and obstruct the airway, forcing their brain to wake them up in order to breathe normally once again.
At Canmore Dental Centre, we provide custom-fitted oral appliances to help improve your flow of breath and prevent you from waking up throughout the night. Our dentists can help you to get a good night's sleep.
Sports Guards
If you or your child participates in any contact sports (hockey, soccer, basketball etc.) wearing a custom-made mouth guard can help prevent serious tooth and jaw injuries, as well as concussions. Here at Canmore Dental Centre, we make comfortable, custom mouth guards in vibrant colours. We encourage regular use and provide care instructions and a protective case for when it’s not in use.
Night Guards
If you grind or clench your teeth during sleep, a night guard will help protect your teeth from damage and provide some pain relief.
They work by putting a barrier between your teeth. When you clench your jaw, the night guard helps to lighten the tension and give cushion to the muscles in the jaw. This cushioning not only helps to prevent face and jaw pain, but also protects the enamel of your teeth.
