At Canmore Dental Centre, the technology we use helps us provide patients with dental care, and aids communication with patients. Technology in our office includes dental lasers, digital x-rays, and a 3D intraoral scanner.
Technologies at Our Dental Office
At Canmore Dental Centre, the technology we use helps to inform treatment planning and make your dental appointments more efficient. Because we can display digital x-rays and scans on the monitors in our treatment rooms, we are able show you any existing dental health issues and walk you through your treatment plan.
We strive to provide our patients with efficient dental care, and make sure they are fully informed about their oral health. Dental technology helps us do that.
Dental Operating Microscope
Our Dental Operating Microscopes provide our dentists with enhanced visibility while performing exacting denting procedures.
Many aspects of dentistry involve working within extremely small and dark spaces; the dental operating microscope supplies the necessary magnification and illumination to facilitate the successful completion of these procedures.
These microscopes are also equipped with high-resolution cameras that allow for patient education opportunities; larger-than-life images of patients' dental conditions allow them to understand what's affecting their oral health.
iTero 3D Scanner
The iTero® intraoral scanner takes highly accurate, 3D impressions of your teeth, jaw and bite. It allows Dr. Maier to plan your treatment in real-time, store data digitally, and create Invisalign clear aligners to straighten your smile.
Intraoral Camera
Intraoral cameras create digital images of the inside of your mouth. The intraoral wand can take and display images of your teeth and gums within minutes, allowing us to show you where there are problems and explain treatment options.
Panoramic X-Rays
A Panoramic x-ray is a vital diagnostic image that is a flat representation of the teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and the nasal and sinus structures. Panoramic x-rays are often used to help plan treatments for dentures, braces, extractions and dental implants. They are also used to check for any cysts or cancer that can develop in the jaw bone.
Digital X-Rays
Unlike traditional x-rays, digital x-rays require no chemical processing and significantly cut down the amount of radiation a patient is exposed to. Digital x-rays are used to produce extremely detailed images of your teeth, gums and other oral structures which allow our dentists to examine areas of your mouth not visible to the naked eye.
Dental Lasers
Dental lasers (extremely focused light beams) allow our dentists to perform procedures with less pain and fewer medical interventions. At Canmore Dental Centre, our dentists use lasers to remove overgrown or decayed tissue, to reshape the gums, or to whiten teeth.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope® is an oral cancer screening device that helps our dentists to identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualization technology, screening can be performed at our office during routine exams and under normal lighting conditions in about two minutes.
